Please write to them expressing your support for Oxford United’s new stadium planning application, explain why the Club is important to you and encourage them to back our plans.
We encourage you to send your letter at the earliest opportunity to ensure it is received ahead of Cherwell District Council’s Planning Committee meeting this summer.
You can include any of the following key points:
- Oxford United Football Club has been a pillar of our community since 1893, but will be without a permanent, sustainable home when the lease at the Kassam Stadium ends
- The Club have reviewed over 60 potential locations and the land known as the Triangle is the only viable option available. Without the new stadium, the existence of the Club is at risk
- The stadium will deliver significant economic benefits to Oxfordshire, creating up to 1,000 jobs and generating tens of millions of pounds for the local economy
- The Radisson Hotel and conference centre are exciting opportunities to help Oxfordshire become a destination for business
- Oxford United’s new stadium will provide space for community engagement and help increase the amount the Club’s charity does for residents
- The Club have committed to maintaining Stratfield Brake sports pitches and expanding local partnerships
- It would be Europe’s first all-electric stadium, supporting local climate ambitions, whilst a 20% biodiversity net gain would be achieved via a new wellbeing garden and extensive planting
- It will be an inclusive venue, becoming the home for the Men’s and Women’s Teams and providing state-of-the-art viewing areas and facilities for wheelchair users and people with disabilities
- This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for Oxfordshire to have a world-class destination that delivers way more than football. Without it, we risk losing our county’s only professional sports club
- I hope the Club can count on your support for this exciting and important planning application
Thank you.
