Background

Securing the future of Oxford United Football Club

Oxford United urgently need to deliver a new, long-term home for the club.

We have an impending deadline of 2026 to move out of the Kassam Stadium. There is no option for us to remain in our current location. As such, there is a pressing need to find a permanent home  to secure the future for Oxfordshire’s only professional football team.

We have identified Stratfield Brake as the preferred location for our new home ground and we strongly believe it can deliver a site which will benefit the local and wider Oxfordshire community.

In March, Oxfordshire County Council took a decision to authorise officers to enter detailed discussions with OUFC on the proposed development of a new football stadium, subject to approval of detailed plans and undertakings and subject to planning permission. The club is currently progressing these discussions with OCC, as well as other parties, including Cherwell District Council, Kidlington Parish Council and Gosford & Water Eaton Parish Council. As we progress these discussions, these parties will have the opportunity to scrutinise our initial proposals, and see in detail our commitments to deliver on the key issues identified by local residents to enable them to make an informed choice. We strongly believe that we can demonstrate significant and sustained benefits to Kidlington and Gosford and Water Eaton residents, our fans and the wider Oxfordshire community.
